Serial number is 280463, barrel length is 32-5/8", caliber is 45-70 govt. Standard military issue model 1873 trapdoor rifle with all original parts and finish. The barrel is a mix of blue and brown patina with some areas of surface rust and minor pitting. The rear sight is original, the hammer and side plate retain a generous amount of factory high polish blue finish, trigger guard and barrel bands are dark patina with minor rust. Original walnut stock is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips, no visible cartouche with an S stamped at the bottom wrist. Strong rifled bore and good action. This is an example of a rifle that is all original but has a stock is that is in far better condition than the metal but should be a fine shooter.
