38-1/2" barrel in .44 bore-percussion. This percussion full stock rifle is signed “A.W.” on top of the barrel flat. The lock was manufactured by Henry Parker. It is a percussion rifle and is either the work of Andrew Wurfflein of Philadelphia or Abe Williams of Washington County. , although Mr. Williams generally engraved his name on a brass plate. Rifle features a full octagon barrel with set sight. The barrel is pinned. There are two brass thimbles. Features double set triggers. Has a brass buttplate and patch box, but has the iron trigger guard. The lock and barrel are a dark chocolate brown patina with light salt and pepper at breech. Patch box is lightly engraved. Stock is excellent with a beautiful striped finish. There is a crack repair on bottom of forearm forward of trigger guard and a crack on the left stock flat. Has an unusual cheek cut-out on left side. Fine early percussion long rifle.
