44-1/2” barrel in .60 bore-percussion. This early full stock Pennsylvania type target rifle sports a heavy, extra-long full octagon barrel that measures 1/2” on the flats. The barrel is not marked with any marker, nor is the percussion lock. The lock and barrel are a mix of grey-brown patina with age freckling. Excellent strong bore. Someone has mounted a contemporary adjustable rear target sight and globe front sight. Has the full length stock with the striped pattern, four barrel wedges, three brass retaining thimbles, brass nose cap, brass trigger guard, brass buttplate, toe plate, and patch box. Has double set triggers. Brass is a deep, dark mustard. Stock is excellent with no cracks, but there is some crazing to the finish from heat or storage. Not quite sure when or why someone added modern sights to a mid-19th century target rifle, but they could easily be removed and replaced with a set of sights more contemporary to the gun.
