36" barrels in .48 bore and .54 bore. Early example of a swivel breech, single hammer, full stock over-under rifle. Referred to as a full stock, but technically it is a butt stock that stops at the breech. Then there is a full stock that runs from breech to barrel end that allows you to release the barrels and spin them for a quick second shot. Both barrels have fixed sights. Left sideplate is brass, right sideplate is steel. Original nipples with double set triggers. Finely engraved brass patch box. Set triggers. Pennsylvania style striped finish, tin brass buttplate, toe plate, trigger guard and forend cap. Has a single ramrod on right side secured by three brass thimbles. All metal is a grey brown patina. Wood is excellent with no cracks. Extremely fine all original 1830-40s double rifle.
