47” barrel in .69 bore-percussion. Continental circa 1775 with later conversion to percussion, the 47” octagon to round browned barrel signed in gilt on the top-rib 'CANON CORDU'. The breech is covered in gold gilt. Has a brass or gold rear sight blade at tang, engraved heavy brass buttplate, lightly engraved brass sideplate, four retaining thimbles with the base thimble engraved, trigger guard and forward tang are engraved with birds. Finely checkered wrist and forend. Pistol grip is carved with a demonic horse or boar. Rollover check piece has silver inlay flowers and leaves. Has a wedge barrel. Missing the sling swivel. Brass tipped original rod. Four barrel wedges (one is missing). Beautiful stock retains most of the original finish. Has a very rare brass lock.
