44-1/2" barrel in .50 bore-percussion. John Fleeger produced rifles at the Allegheny Gun Works in Pittsburgh, Pa. in the 1830s. This rifle is signed on the top barrel flat. Features a full heavy octagon barrel with a set rear sight and a dovetail front. Lock is stamped “J. Fleeger, Allegheny”. Beautifully finished striped stock. The barrel is wedged with no plates. Rod is retained by three brass thimbles. The buttplate, toe plate, trigger guard, and nose cap are brass. Has double set triggers, nickel thumbplate. Left side is decorated with a star, heart and arrow. Lock and barrel are a smooth brown patina. Brass is a lovely rich mustard color. Stock is very good with a small closed repaired crack at right wrist, a 5” and 2” sliver missing from left forend.
