The top barrel flat is stamped B & J Cooper. N. York. The barrel has a Damascus type pattern with gold borderline at breech with light engraving. The tang is engraved with set-in rear sight. End tip is nickel. Has nickel plated escutcheon for barrel wedge, beautiful dark walnut stock with distinctive handle. A finely checkered pistol grip retains nearly all original finish with a small 1/2" separation at left side screw. All of the screws are engraved except nipple screw, the lock and hammer are engraved, very good bore. All metal surfaces are a light brown patina. Fine early American dueling pistol.
