.44-40 WCF with 7-1/2" barrels. These revolvers were competing with the Colt Single Action Army with their popular usage on the Western Frontier. The most noted pistolero using the model 1875 was Frank James. Approximately 25,000 of this model were manufactured from 1875 to 1889 in all its variations. These are later models in that they feature the blade front sights, the caliber marking is stamped on left side of frame, and there are no lanyard rings. Both guns are factory nickel finished with 7-1/2” barrel, six shot, single action, chambered for the .44-40 cartridge and sport a pair of finely checkered grips. Both revolvers sport 100% original factory finish. We would rate one revolver at 90% and the other at 80% with most of the nickel wear on the cylinder. Fine strong bores with some minor black powder erosion. While both revolvers index properly, the loading half notch does not engage on one. The guns come in a period French fitted relined and re-purposed case with an original full box of Winchester .44 caliber cartridge and two cleaning tools. A wonderful set.
