21-5/8" barrel in .50 bore-percussion. This was a single shot breech loading carbine manufactured by Poultney & Trimble in Baltimore from 1861 to 1865. Widely used during the Civil War. The barrel is a pleasing mix of blue-brown patina. Case colors have turned soft brown. Locking plate retains 80% original factory blue. Has the original military folding rear sight, both original sling swivels and carbine buttplate with walnut stocks. Hinge screw is burred. Wood is very good with a 2” repaired crack on right wrist. No visible cartouche. Very good rifle bore and perfect action.
