.38-40 caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured 1885. Standard .38 caliber rifle with full octagon barrel, full magazine, blued finish, walnut stock, rifle butt, original Winchester sporting front and rear sights. All metal surfaces have turned a dark chocolate brown patina with some minor corrosion at front right magazine tube. Frame exhibits deep freckling. Stocks are shy to metal, having been refinished, but are in very good condition with no cracks or major chips. Brass lifter has been cleaned. Caliber stamp no longer visible. Several replaced screws. Very good rifled bore with some abrasions. Fine working order.
