.45-70 caliber with a 22" barrel. Manufactured 1885 to 1890. Standard Indian Wars U.S. issue single shot trapdoor carbine. Features a blued round barrel, carbine post front sight, model 1884 rear sight. The original saddle ring bar is present but the ring is missing. Barrel has the “VP” inspector mark. Block is dated 1884. Stock has been refinished at one time and there is no visible cartouche. Muzzle is properly crowned. Has the U.S. stamped carbine buttplate. Barrel is a pleasing mix of blue-brown patina as arsenal refinished. The lock has 60% original blue. Block is arsenal redone. Very good bore. Perfect action. Comes with an original model 1885 McKeever cartridge box with an original tool and three original cartridges. Box is in excellent condition.
