22" barrel in .52 bore rimfire. Approximately 16,500 of these carbines were manufactured between 1862 and 1865. This is the Model 1864. Left side of the barrel is stamped “F.D.L”. Very popular breech loading rimfire carbine widely used during the Civil War in the Union cavalry. It is a single barrel band with military folding rear sight, standard front, U.S. marked carbine buttplate, walnut stock. This carbine remains in excellent untouched condition. All metal parts are a smooth dark chocolate brown patina. Original walnut stock is excellent with no cracks, just the usual dings. Strong clean rifled bore. Most of the military issue Joslyns saw hard use, this one has survived in excellent all original condition.
