The first gun is a Colt Model 1849 pocket revolver in .31 bore percussion with a 5" octagon barrel. This is a six shot single action with an octagon barrel. All metal surfaces are a grey-brown patina with the exception of the brass back strap and trigger guard., which have been cleaned. Sports an excellent set of walnut grips. Cylinder scene is partially visible. Frame legend is visible as is the barrel address. The wedge is a replacement, as is the loading lever, which is numbered to another gun. All other numbers match. Has the original nipples. Cylinder does not index. Front sight has been added. Very good bore. The second gun is a Colt Brevette Model 1849 pocket revolver. It is a .38 bore percussion with a 6-1/8" barrel. This is a typical European manufactured Colt 1849 infringement revolver with Colt barrel address and numerous European proof marks. Sports an octagon barrel; five shot; rebated and engraved frame; light engraving on barrel, frame, back strap and trigger guard as well. Has very good two piece bone grips. All metal surfaces are a brown-grey deep patina. Has all matching numbers, except loading gate and wedge are not numbered. Cylinder spins freely. Bore has strong visible rifling. Most of the screws exhibit degrees of damage. This particular revolver rests in a re-purposed case with reproduction accessories. These Brevette copies were very popular in the Southern states during the Civil War.
