.40-82 caliber with a 26" barrel. This standard octagon rifle was manufactured in 1887, the second year of production for this model. The barrel and tube are a soft clean grey patina with perfect legends. Original sporting front and rear sights. The frame colors have turned a dark gun metal grey. Bolt retains 60% original blue. Traces of color on hammer. Original walnut stocks are very good, proud to metal with no cracks, never refinished, with a minor chip and a few dents on forearm. Main tang screw is burred and the two right frame screws have minor burrs. Excellent strong clean bore and perfect action. Lovely smooth all original second year model 1886.
