.30-06 caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured in 1948. This rifle was produced in the first year since production had ceased in 1944. It is a standard model in all respects and chambered for the old stand-by .30-06 cartridge that so many returning servicemen were familiar with. It features the pre-war style straight comb, pistol grip, checkered walnut stock with steel checkered buttplate. The barrel retains approximately 90% original factory blue with strong barrel legends and some minor areas of thinning and age spots with muzzle wear. The front ramp sight is missing the hood. Rear sight slot has a filler. The rifle sports a Redfield 4x scope with Redfield base and rings. The two left receiver sight screws are not present but rifle was never cut for such a sight. The floor plate and trigger guard retains approximately 30% factory blue, balance thinned to gun metal grey. Frame retains a majority of the original finish. Bolt knob has worn to raw metal. Wood is very good with no cracks or chips but does have some oil darkening near buttplate. The checkering is fairly sharp. Some extra finished was wiped on at one time. Bore is strong. Perfect action.
