.44-40 caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured in 1882. Fine all original example of the popular .44 caliber Winchester. Features 24" full round barrel, full magazine, blued finish, walnut stocks, rifle butt, original Winchester sporting front and rear sights. All the metal surfaces on this rifle have a fine untouched deep rich blue-brown patina with the high edges a soft gun metal grey with large percentage of bright blue on loading gate. Carrier has never been polished. Wood is excellent, proud to metal. There is a grain separation crack on left forearm that is extremely tight and could easily be professionally repaired as to not even be noticeable. Strong rifled bore with just some minor abrasion. Perfect action. Far above average, an extremely handsome 73 that has a wonderful look in the best of the calibers.
