.44-40 caliber with a 4-3/4" barrel. Manufactured in 1893. This is a standard roll-die Frontier six shooter, .44 caliber double action six shot revolver. All metal surfaces are a pleasing smooth blue-brown patina with traces of original blue in recesses. Fine barrel legend. Very good original grips having turned soft brown and much of the checkering has worn smooth. Has the original lanyard ring. Cylinder does not index. Bore is near mint. A little mechanical attention will make this a fine all original Model 1878.
