.44-40 caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured in 1891. The Model 1889 Marlin was the company's second entry into the Colt Single Action Army calibers offered in their lever action line-up after the short lived model 1888. This is a deluxe model featuring the pistol grip checkered varnished walnut stocks with rifle buttplate. All other aspects of this rifle are standard as follows: 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, .44 caliber, with standard sporting front and rear sights. This rifle is clean, untouched and all original. All metal surfaces are a soft pleasing blue-brown patina. The wood is very good, proud to metal with no cracks or chips, albeit the checkering is worn but still intact and retains the vast majority of the original factory varnish. The left nose cap retaining screw is missing. Perfect working order. Strong rifled bore with usual black powder residue. An extremely handsome .44 Marlin.
