.38-40 caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured in 1887. This rifle is standard in all respects. Features a 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, Winchester sporting rear and front sights, walnut stocks with rifle butt. Gun is in fine working order. With a strong rifled bore with usual black powder abrasions. Right side of stock is branded with a fancy cursive letter "A". Wood is proud to metal with no cracks or chips, has never been refinished and has only the usual minor abrasions. All metal surfaces are basically a dark grey-brown patina with some minor dents on left side of magazine. The frame and dust cover have been beautifully period engraved (not factory) and feature antlered game panels on both sides. Very lovely big bore model 73 rifle. Factory letter: Shipped 3-28-1887, .38, Octagon.
