Serial number is 14801 and was manufactured in 1880. This is a fairly scarce variation in that it features a 4-1/2” barrel but was manufactured sans the ejector rod i.e. long barrel Sheriff’s or Store Keepers Model. The factory letter states that this gun was shipped in a 24 gun shipment to Hibbard, Spencer & Co. Chicago IL. On August 4, 1880 in .38 caliber, nickel finish, rubber grips, with 4-1/2" barrel. The gun remains in excellent, all original condition as shipped. It is a roll die stamped barrel with the 2-line address legend. The barrel and frame retain at least 90% or better of the original nickel finish. The cylinder has some flaking and light bubbling to about 70%. Grips are excellent. Hammer and trigger have most of the original brilliant fire blue finish. Functions fine in both single and double action with good lock up. Nice strong bore. There is a factory return star on right trigger bow but there is no sign that this gun was ever refinished so most likely a work or repair order since these were known to be fragile actions. These long barrel Store Keepers are extremely hard to find guns, especially in fine original condition.
