Serial number is 47440, manufactured in 1884. Desirable etched panel legend Sheriffs model with 3 ½” barrel in .38 caliber and scarce blue/case color finish. The factory letter states that this gun was shipped in an 8 gun shipment on August 29, 1884 to H&D Folsom Arms Co. New York. The gun remains in the listed configuration and has survived in wonderful all original condition. The barrel legend is very legible while the finish has turned a soft blue gray. The cylinder has likewise turned a pleasing blue gray while the case colors have survived with some spectacular color and remain at least in the 85% range. The grips are excellent albeit have smoothed out on high spots. The grip straps have thinned out to gray but generous amounts of finish remain on trigger guard. Ample amounts of fire blue still remain on back of hammer as well. Gun functions perfectly in both single and double action mode. Barrel exhibits strong clean rifling. Excellent early blued etched panel .38.
