.44-40 WCF with a 4-3/4" barrel. Manufactured 1876-1880. These popular revolvers saw heavy usage on the Western Frontiers and south of the border during the turbulent 1870s and this example evidently saw much use. It is a third model, closed top, single action, six shot. The original barrel length has been period shortened, front sight reset, frame release latch replaced, replaced bone grips with piece missing from left side (extra-large homemade grip screw). It has the original lanyard ring. Traces of original nickel finish. Bore shows black powder abrasion. Indexes and locks up fine. Barrel legend is partially readable. No visible frame legend. If you’re looking for an Old West revolver that has “the look”, this is it.
