Has a 26" barrel chambered for .45-70 caliber. Manufactured in 1896. The Marlin 1895 lever action rifle, at 18,000 total produced, was the lowest production number of all the big bore Marlin lever actions with the exception of the Model 1888. This is the scarce and desirable deluxe model that features pistol grip checkered walnut stocks and chambered for one of the most desirable calibers offered, the .45-70 WCF. Standard features include 26" full octagon barrel full magazine, blued finish, case colored frame, hammer and lever, with high finished checkered walnut stock, rifle butt and the original Marlin sporting front and rear sights. Rifle remains in beautiful all original condition as manufactured. The barrel, tube and forend cap retain 90% of their original finish with razor sharp edges, deep barrel legends with a few very minor age freckles and minor high edge wear. Even the muzzle exhibits literally no loss of finish. The wooden stocks are excellent with no cracks or chips, checkering is still sharp and they retain the majority of the original deluxe finish. Buttplate colors have darkened but the screw on top still retains a large portion of the original fire blue. The frame colors have basically nickeled out with some remaining pattern and traces of color in recesses. Loading gate retains approximately 80% of the original high polish blue. Two of the screws are slightly burred. Wood to metal fit is perfect, having never been touched. Action is tight as new. Strong rifled bore with some cloudiness. Extremely fine large frame deluxe 95 in the scarce antique serial number range from the second year of production. Factory research: shipped 9-29-1896. 26", oct., 45-70, pistol grip stock.
