9" barrels, .46boreFine cased match set of Mortimer of London dueling pistols. Dating to the mid 19th century they feature full octagon barrels with simple front and fixed sights, swivel rods with 1 piece walnut checkered stocks with trap butt plates. The finely engraved side plates are stamped H. W. Mortimer. Other features include engraved hammer with fish head, nickel plated brass thumb piece and trap butt. Butt features fine engraving as does trigger guard. The breech is engraved with platinum bands, rear tang is engraved, both barrels are stamped London. The walnut stocks are of simple design with fine checkering at grip. All metal surfaces are a smooth gun metal gray patina. Both stocks retain majority of their original finish, the checkering is thinning in spots. One pistol has a minor hairline grain separation at left side screw. They come in a vintage period old box with green lining. Covers replaced accessories include: cap tin, wood handle turn screw, a period powder flask, single cavity bullet mold stamped 40 and a brass jag.
