.12 bore with a 20" barrel. Manufactured 1908. This is a custom built Winchester Model 1897 hammer trench gun like those used in the trenches during the first World War. The basis was a round knob takedown 12 gauge field gun. The barrel has been shortened to 20", a reproduction heat shield/bayonet lug attachment has been added, a Springfield 1903 sling swivel has been added to stock. All metal surfaces retain approximately 85% of the reapplied blue finish. Original round knob walnut stock is very good with two expertly repaired hairlines. Has the black composite buttplate and the 18-line corncob forend. Perfect action. Very good bore.
