This is referred to as a Drake conversion of the Model 1841 Mississippi rifle. Approximately 2000 were converted for two Massachusetts regiments. Tang and breech are dated 1850. Regimental and company marked. Caliber is .54 bore. Barrel length is 33 inches. Standard US issue Model 1841 that has been shortened to artillery length. Manufactured by Robbins & Lawrence. Robbins & Lawrence had a contract between 1848 and 1853 and made a total of 15,000 rifles for the US government. All metal is brown patina. Has the standard three leaf folding rear sight, front post. The two barrel bands, trigger guard, butt plate and patch are brass. Has two perfect cartouches on left side of stock. Wood is excellent with no cracks and original patina. Comes with original bayonet.
