8x50Rmm with a 30" barrel. The Model 1895 Infantry rifle was produced at Steyr in Budapest. This was the primary shoulder arm of the Austro-Hungarian army during World War I and was also used by Bulgaria and Greece. Many of these were converted from 8x50 to 8x56 and should be chamber cast before attempting to fire. The rifle itself is standard as-issued military configuration It has been converted into a World War I sniper-type rifle with the addition of a reproduction set of scope bases and rings and sports an original World War I era scope that was manufactured and is stamped "C.P. Goerz". Other stampings on scope include: "Certar 4-1/2 Berlin Nr. 6219". Features the brass adjustment on top and has brass lens attachments on both ends. Top of the barrel has original numbers and a large letter "S" stamped on top, which is usually a sign that it has been converted at the factory to fire the 8x56R cartridge. The bolt is a straight pull and is numbered to the barrel and receiver. Gun sports original folding military rear sight, standard front sight, side bayonet lug that is integral to front band, rear band has sling swivel, as does bottom of stock. Smooth steel buttplate, two piece walnut stock and the built-in extended magazine that is not removable. All metal surfaces are a smooth grey patina with some original blue on sides of magazine. Scope if a blend of blue with brown patina with perfect optics (line and post reticle). Wood stocks are excellent with no cracks and retain the majority of the original finish with a few minor bruises and is stamped 5015 on one side which matches serial number. Fine action. Strong clean bore. This all original rifle is in excellent condition, and given the nearly impossible task of finding an all original World War I sniper, this is about as close as one can get.
