Serial number is 9878, caliber is 8mm, barrel length is 24". Fine late war Nazi issue standard model 98 rifle. The receiver bridge bares the Waffenamt stamp with Wa80. The bridge is also stamped Mod. 98 and dou. 45. Barrel is stamped 246155 with a T proof and the Nazi eagle with swastika. Bolt is stamped 4201. Forend cap is stamped 9878 over an old number which has been x-ed out. Floor plate is stamped 0566518. Trigger guard is stamped 0566518. Stock is stamped 9878. Butt plate is stamped 9878. Gun sports standard military sights. Walnut stock is excellent with the usual war dings, but no cracks. Has the aluminum butt plate. The trigger guard is pressed and retains 50 percent original finish, mostly in recesses. The floor plate and front tang are gun metal gray, as are the bands. The barrel is a mix of blue and gray with muzzle and high edge wear, as is the frame. Has an original leather sling. Fine action and a strong bore. Obviously, a late war rifle with some mixed parts, probably performed by Armory.
