This lot consists of two antique firearms to include: a Colt Lightning Model 1877 double action revolver with a 5" barrel in .41 long Colt caliber. Manufactured in 1878. Revolver has been re-blued with the exception of grip strap and trigger guard. Retaining most of the re-applied finish with light pitting under surface. Fairly strong barrel and frame legend. Very good grips with repair on left panel, right grip does not fit properly. Cylinder indexes fine. Strong clean bore. No visible etched panel. The second gun is a U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor rifle in .45-70 caliber with a 31-5/8" barrel. This rifle has had the stock sporterized by removing the front half of wood. Has the original barrel, not cut, with "VP" inspector mark. Original military sights. Metal is a pleasing blue-brown patina. Stock is rough with cracked and repaired wrist. Has original trigger guard and buttplate. Strong rifled bore and a perfect action. All metal parts are original to gun, would make a great basis to build a Springfield Trapdoor sporting rifle.
