.45-70 caliber with a 28" barrel. Manufactured in 1891. This model 1886 rifle is chambered for one of the most popular calibers available in this model and is standard in all respects with the exception of the extra length (2") 28" full octagon barrel. Features full magazine, Winchester model 1886 folding ladder sight, walnut stocks and rifle buttplate. One of the more interesting facets of this rifle is the renowned Browning Bros. Ogden, Utah dealer stamp on top of the barrel flat. The Browning Bros. operated a retail shop in Utah during the 19th century and this rifle was obviously sold at their establishment. As to condition; the barrel and tube are a pleasing mix of blue starting to turn with typical age freckling. Barrel legends are strong. The frame retains no trace of color and is basically a gun metal grey. Walnut stocks are very good. There is a 2" repaired crack on right side of forearm. Butt stock is proud to the metal with a sliver missing at left wrist at tang. Perfect action. Strong rifled bore. A clean all original example of a desirable Winchester big bore shipped to a famous location with a special order extra length barrel.
