.44 Smith & Wesson Russian with a 7" barrel. These were manufactured from 1873 to 1878. It has the standard English barrel legend, manufactured without the trigger guard spur. Has the original Russian style walnut grips. Butt is stamped "1036" which is an ID number. It is a single action, six shot. All metal surfaces are dark brown patina with traces of nickel and moderate to heavy pitting on right side. Missing the top frame screw. Indexes but cylinder does not lock in place until hammer falls. Strong bore but usual black powder abrasions. Has the offset original factory lanyard ring. This revolver was a favorite of Virgil Earp.
