.44-40 WCF caliber with a 7-1/2" barrel. Manufactured in 1901. Offered is a spectacularly engraved Colt Frontier six-shooter with full nickel plating and is engraved in the style of Cuno Helfricht. These are typically referred to as New York engraved revolvers. Master engravers, the likes of Helfricht, and those working under him worked for various New York enterprises such as Hartley & Graham, for all of the artistic master engraving was done outside the Colt premises. The engraving has been masterfully executed by a steady hand. Nearly full coverage. There is no nickel finish in the legends. Revolver retains virtually all of the nickel finish with a light drag line. End of cylinder shows no signs of any burn, so it has not been shot since it was engraved. Mirror perfect bore. Action functions as new. Sports a pair of vintage two-piece pearl grips. Left panel has a repaired crack and a couple of minor chips. Outstanding engraved Frontier six-shooter.
