Caliber .44-40 with a 24". Manufactured in 1884. One of the most handsome rifles and most recognizable amongst all of the firearms in the old West. This is a factory deluxe Model 1873 rifle in the most popular caliber, the 44-40 WCF round. Standard features include; 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, Winchester sporting front and rear sites and rifle butt. The brass trap in butt is missing the button. This deluxe model features highly figured pistol grip checkered walnut stocks with the ebony pistol grip insert. The barrel and tube have turned a soft pleasing brown patina with sharp barrel legend. The left side of tube has one small dent. The frame has silvered out to a dull patina/nickel finish. The walnut stocks are in very good to excellent all original condition with the special order highly figured grain, and are proud to the metal with no cracks and a few minor wood impressions. One small chip in checkering at right pistol grip. Checkering still quite visible, while diamonds have smoothed out a bit. All of the screw heads are very good with the exception of one on the bottom frame screws. Perfect working order. Has a very good rifle poor with usual black powder abrasion. This is an extremely handsome all original Winchester Model 1873 Deluxe 44 Rifle. It bears the same profile as the famous Winchester 1 of 1,000. Factory research letter included.
