Caliber .38-40, 28" barrel. Manufactured in 1890. Desirable, special order, 28" full octagon barrel (24" standard) in the large 38 caliber. All other features of this rifle are standard as follows; full magazine, blued finish, walnut stock, rifle butt with original Winchester sporting front and rear sites. The dust cover and screw are replacements and the tang screws that are present were made for a tang site (not present) so they are pronounced. All metal surfaces are a soft and smooth brown patina, but the edges are soft, so finish was added at one time. Walnut stocks are very good with no cracks, proud to metal with just a few minor usual abrasions. Fine working order, very good bore with typical black powder abrasion. Handsome special order model 1873 rifle.
