.45-90 caliber with a 22" barrel. Manufactured in 1892. Eagerly sought by collectors are the Winchester model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbines and especially so in the large and popular .45-90 caliber. Standard features on this carbine include 22” barrel, full magazine, post front sight, carbine ladder rear sight, walnut stocks, carbine butt, blued finish, case colored frame. In addition, this carbine has the rear sling swivel barrel band and a sling swivel in buttstock. The barrel and tube are a brown gun metal grey patina with some light salt and pepper. Frame colors have greyed to a dull nickel-coin finish. Bolt retains approximately 80% original factory blue. Walnut stocks are very good with no cracks, but have been refinished long ago and are a bit shy to the metal with sliver missing on right side of wrist at tang. Action is fine. Good visible rifling with typical black powder minor erosion. These big bore carbines usually saw extremely heavy use, and this one has survived in far better than average condition and features the rather scarce factory sling swivels.
