Caliber .405 WCF with a 24" barrel. This rifle was produced in 1912. Coincides perfectly with Teddy Roosevelt's famous African safari and is one of TR's favorite big bore rifles. It is a standard model in all respects with full round barrel, original Winchester sporting rear sight, a dovetailed blade front sight on small integral ramp. Plain varnished walnut stocks with rifle butt. Forend has the ebony insert. Stocks are excellent, no cracks nor any major chips and are proud to metal, retaining a majority of the original finish. Right side of wrist has three kill notches. Forend is excellent with no cracks, a couple minor dings. The barrel retains approximately 70% original factory blue, starting to thin a bit, especially at breech. Strong barrel and frame legends. Frame has flashes of factory blue, but is basically a soft smooth brown-grey patina. Strong bore and perfect action. A very nice example of TR's Big Medicine that was produced at the exact same time as it was made famous in the dark continent.
