Caliber .458 Winchester magnum with a 25" barrel. A total of 1,226 of these Winchesters were manufactured in this caliber, representing only 21% of total production. It is the third rarest of all listed calibers behind the .300 Savage and the .35 Remington. As if the caliber production does not make this rifle rare enough, the fact that this is the scarcer Super Grade configuration really changes things. Manufactured in 1961. The Super Grade features deluxe checkering with black contrasting forend tip, factory sling swivels, metal pistol grip cap, and Super Grade stamped on floor plate. The African model came standard with the solid red Winchester rubber buttplate. This African model features the red bead ramp front sight with hood, single leaf adjustable rear sight. All metal surfaces retain 99% of their original factory blue finish. Near mint walnut stocks with only one or two very minor storage impressions. Bore and action are as new. Original rubber buttplate is excellent with no flattening. Bolt is jeweled. Bolt handle knob has some light thinning. Beautiful early African Super Grade .458 rifle.
