.375 H&H caliber with a 25" barrel. This rifle was manufactured in 1953 and is chambered for the powerful .375 Holland & Holland magnum cartridge. A total of 14,005 Winchester model 70s were manufactured in this caliber prior to 1965. The .375 caliber is one of the most famous of all the so-called big game chambering ever manufactured. This is a standard grade example that features blued finish, pistol grip checkered walnut stock, Redfield receiver sight and Winchester rubber buttplate. The front sight is a ramp with brass bead and hood. Rear sight is a folding two-leaf express sight. Frame retains approximately 98% of the original blue with a touch of high edge wear. The barrel shows most of the original blue with some light wear on top of barrel, mostly at breech. Wood is excellent with no cracks and just a couple of the usual minor hunting abrasions. Floor plate and trigger guard retain most of the original finish with a bit of light freckling on trigger guard. Fine bore and action. Nice early all original pre-64 model 70 big bore.
