.44 magnum caliber with a 9-5/8" barrel. Dan Wesson made its name in the 1970s by manufacturing a big bore double action revolver that allowed for interchangeable barrels. This revolver is a Dan Wesson six shot, double action, .44 magnum that was embellished to celebrate 200 years of the United States for our Bicentennial in 1976, in conjunction with the American Historical Foundation. The revolver is standard high polish blued finish with vent rib and features gold plated red ramp front sight, gold plated adjustable rear sight with gold hammer and trigger. Left side of barrel is engraved "We the People of the United States - .44 Magnum." with gold stars and gold overlay (some of the gold is no longer present). Left side of frame is engraved "200 years". The smooth faux ivory grips have an enameled 200th anniversary medallion. The gun is new, never fired. Original tape still covers the cylinder notches. Gun rests in the diecut cardboard insert with the takedown wrench in envelope, and is housed in the original cardboard shipping carton. The Dan Wesson revolvers have, of late, been catching on with collectors, and this special edition should continue to garner interest.
