.22 rimfire caliber with an 18" barrel. These rifles were manufactured from 1902 to 1907. They were hugely successful as a beginner's first rifle. Since the intended customer was generally under the age of 12, the majority of these will be found today in conditions ranging from good to horrible. This example is the extreme exception. The barrel retains 99% of the original factory blue finish with perfect barrel legend and a couple minor spots of age freckling. Has the original sights which include the see-through stationary rear peep sight. Trigger guard retains virtually all of its original high polish fire blue finish. Even the blued steel buttplate retains the majority of the original factory high polish finish. Original hardwood one piece stock is excellent with nary a chip or crack to be found and virtually all of the original Winchester applied finish, albeit a few very minor surface impressions and storage marks. Strong clean bore and a perfect action. One of the best you will find. Early variation.
