Appears to be an early type one. Features a 8-1/2" barrel, .54 caliber. Top of barrel is stamped S.K., has the swivel type rod, the walnut stock has perfect cartouche on left side, percussion lock is stamped U.S. H. Aston. Gun retains approximately 85% of the period nickel plating. It is thinning a bit on the brass barrel band and the butt, walnut stocks are excellent with perfect cartouche on left side. The address on lock plate has thinned and is partially readable. Has a nice bore, perfect action. Interesting period plated pistol in exceptional condition. Was probably plated for sea service or presentation.
U.S. MODEL 1842 HENRY ASTON PISTOL.
