.40 bore percussion with a 4-7/8" barrel. While similar to the Tranter, Adams & Webley double action revolvers of the 1850's and 60's, this revolver is stamped "T. Bradburn & Sons" on top of the barrel with no other maker marks. It has numerous Birmingham English proofs. T Bradburn & Son operated in Birmingham from 1839 to 1863. It is a five shot double action with a full octagon barrel, spur-less hammer. Engraved on frame, cylinder and top strap. Has checkered walnut grips with small nail head decorations with engraved trigger guard, and metal buttplate. The frame and trigger guard retain traces of the original nickel plated finish, balance gun metal patina. The engraved cylinder retains approximately 50% of the original high polish blue and sports all original nipples. Barrel retains approximately 70% high polish factory blue with balance flaked. Operates perfectly double action. Strong bore with some usual black powder residue. Very high grade, quality English double action of the 1850s period. Comes with an original unmarked brass cylinder type powder measure, missing spout, and a London cap tin.
