Serial number is 640, caliber .21 bore, the barrel lengths are 27 - 1/2", length of pull is 15 1/8" to front trigger, 2 - 3/4" chambers. Offered is the most exquisite high grade Bernardelli side by side shotgun ever manufactured by the famous Italian firm. This company has been making firearms since 1721. This firearm was owned by our consignor for over 40 years. While the grade is not listed this has to be one of the highest grades ever manufactured sans any gold inlays. The side plate frames are finished in a coin nickel silver and exhibit the most exquisite and delicate detailed ornate engraving. The frame side plates, tang and trigger guard exhibit 100% full coverage. All internal service flats are jeweled with all proper proofs and stamped Gardone B.T. Brescia, Itlay. The safety and release are finished in a high powered blue finish. the bottom of the frame has the company and address with the engraving. This is an English style stock with fine line hand checkered wrist with deluxe fiery grain French walnut in an oil finish. It has double triggers, has a Pachmyer red rubber recoil pad, it has the beaver tail forend that exhibits the same fine line deluxe checkering, has a silver shield set into the center diamond. The forend metal is completely engraved. Both of the barrels are numbered to the gun and all numbers match so this was manufactured factory to barrel set. Barrels are blued, the breech of each gun is numbered one or two in gold and both feature full length finely checkered matted ribs with two beads. Barrels set one is choked improved modified and modified. Barrel set two is choked full and improved modified. This resplendent shotgun remains in as new condition inside and out retaining virtually all of it's original finish, even under intense scrutiny revealed only the minor of marks under the barrel near lugs. Wood is near mint with a couple of very minor storage impressions. Checkering is sharp as new. This princely set comes in it's original leather two barrel carry case with green felt lining, leather covered with carry handle and silver identification plaque that has not been inscribed. If a finer, higher grade Bernardelli two barrel side by side cased set exists both as to condition and embellishment we have not seen it.
