Serial No. 58294. Barrel length is 24 inches. Caliber is .405 W.C.F. Manufactured in 1906. According to the factory letter, this rifle was shipped on August 6th, 1907 as a standard .405 caliber lever action rifle. It is a standard rifle in all respects with a 24" barrel, blued finish, rifle butt and walnut stock. Barrel retains approximately 60 percent of the original factory blue that has thinned to gun metal gray at breach behind rear sight, at mussel, with some thinning in spots. Frame displays flashes of blue in the recesses while the balance has flaked to a smooth soft gun metal gray. All of the screw heads are near perfect. The rear sporting sight elevator is dated 1901. The top of frame is matted and the PW has been offset. The .405 W.C.F. legend is sharp. The bolt retains 75 percent of the brilliant high polish blue finish. The case colors on hammer have patterned out. Wood is very good to excellent, proud to metal, with the usual minor hunting dings and does not have any cracks. The bore exhibits strong sharp rifling and the action is perfect. A fine collectible big bore Winchester Model 1895 most often associated with Teddy Roosevelt. Nice enough to be collectible, but enough wear that taking it to the range would not be an injustice.
