Manufactured in 1849. 5-1/2" barrel in .36 caliber. Offered is a European copy based on the Colt Model 1849 revolver. It exhibits all Colt markings but is chambered for the .36 caliber percussion and has a 5-1/2" barrel, neither of which were offered in the original Colt line. It was a common practice in Europe to manufacture guns without license based on the original Colt design. Many of these found their way to the Southern states during the Civil War. This revolver has all matching numbers including wedge, the New York Colt barrel address, and the cylinder has the stagecoach scene. Other features include the brass back strap and one piece varnished walnut grips. The frame, barrel and cylinder retain 95% of the reapplied blue finish. Walnut grips are excellent with most of the original varnish. The brass has traces of silver plating. Action is perfect. Strong rifled bore. Comes with a vintage two-cavity bullet mold.
