Manufactured 1954. 12 bore with a 20" barrel. This is an interesting all original Winchester Model 12 pump action cylinder bore riot gun issued to the Dallas Police Department in 1954. They have a significant tie-in with one of the most historically significant events in America's history. These shotguns were carried by the Dallas P.D. the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. There is a very famous photograph of police rounding up suspects immediately after the shooting, armed with these very weapons. Pistol grip is stamped "DPD" with the rack No. 117, in addition there is a brass plaque on the right side stamped "Range" and a red painted stripe on butt. It is a standard riot gun in all respects with blued finish, pistol grip walnut stock, Winchester logo buttplate, and round bottom grooved forend. Gun retains approximately 85% original smooth blue finish with perfect legends. Stocks are excellent with no cracks but usual abrasions. Action is perfect. Mirror bore. The front end of this shotgun is stamped "1597285" which would indicate that the police armor has switched. This forend was made in the same year and was probably due to damage on the original or simply reassembled with the wrong forend. Factory research letter.
