5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. This is a fine, early, all original Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army semi-automatic pistol manufactured in 1914. Standard features include blued finish with the diamond checkered walnut grips. Right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Army". Left side of frame is stamped "United States Property". Left side of frame has the Walter G. Penfield inspector stamp (W.G.P. 1911 - 1914). the blued barrel is stamped with the early perpendicular "P.H.". All proper features to include a small thin front sight; U-notch rear sight; short checkered wide spur hammer; checkered plunger, slide stop, safety; with the long smooth trigger; and flat mainspring with lanyard loop. Gun remains in excellent condition retaining approximately 85% original early war-time blue finish with balance aged patina and excellent original walnut grips. Light drag line. Perfect bore. Far above average scarce early high condition U.S. Model 1911.
