Barrel length 22", .52 percussion. Arguably the most coveted weapon of the Civil War was the Sharps carbine. This carbine is standard in all respects and featured: blue barrel with case colored frame, walnut stock with patcbox on right side. It has the standard Sharps patented rear sight with post front. Breech is stamped "New Model 1863" with Sharps barrel address. Has saddle ring and bar on left side. Left side of barrel has the "E.A.W." inspector stamp. Left side of stock has faint cartouche. All metal surfaces are a smooth grey patina with sharp legends. The only non-factory alteration was the period decorative brass plate that was applied on right side of stock surrounding the original patch box. Obviously applied during period of use and expertly executed. The wood stocks are in excellent condition with no cracks. Has a strong, clean rifle bore and perfect action. An extremely handsome Sharps Civil War carbine that has not been converted.
