.38 Smith & Wesson caliber with a 4" barrel. This is a second variation auto-ejecting First Model manufactured from 1887 to 1889. This model does not have the patent dates on the barrel rib. It is a five shot, double action, blued with case colored hammer and black gutta percha grips. The gun shows in near new condition, retaining 99%+ original factory blue with mint grips, bore and action. This is an early pre-1898 gun made for black powder only and is about as close to new as we have seen in one of these early examples.
