24" barrel in .45-70 govt caliber. Made in 1911. Referred to as the "lightweight" rifle, this Model 1886 is standard in all respects and chambered for the popular .45-70 cartridge. Features include full round barrel, full magazine, sporting sights, blued finish, walnut stocks, with Winchester logo shotgun buttplate. Rifle remains in excellent all original condition. Barrel retains approximately 75% original factory blue finish, starting to thin. The magazine has thinned to a soft grey patina. Forend cap has traces of original finish. Left side of frame retains approximately 70-75% original high polish factory blue, while the right side retains approximately 60-65%. The bolt retains nearly all of the original blue. Original walnut stocks are excellent retaining virtually all of their original finish, with a minute 1/8" chip at right forward tang. Strong clean bore. Perfect action. A lovely early lightweight rifle in very collectable condition, with just enough wear in that shooting would not diminish its value.
